  • Why Work With A Board Certified Master Arborist?

Choosing a tree service is a big decision, especially when the job involves large trees, storm damage, or work close to your home. Eric Putnam BCMA Inc. is a family tree care company serving the Greater Houston area, led by Eric Putnam, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist. Eric was the 98th ISA Certified Arborist in Texas and the 18th Board Certified Master Arborist in the state, and our family has been caring for trees since 1970.

Whether you need a tree removed, trimmed, treated, or cleaned up after a storm, you get an arborist's judgment on every job. We only recommend the work that's needed. If a tree can be saved with proper pruning or tree health care, we'll tell you before suggesting removal, and we explain the plan up front so there are no surprises. We're fully insured, so you're protected.

We know what Gulf Coast trees go through, from hurricanes and heavy clay soil to drought and heat. If you're not sure what your tree needs, our arborists can give you an independent evaluation. Call or text for a free estimate on removal, trimming, tree health care, or storm work, or book an arborist consultation for a full assessment.

  • Professional Tree Removal Services

Need a tree removed? Eric Putnam BCMA Inc. provides safe, professional tree removal across the Greater Houston area, led by an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist. Whether the tree is dead, dying, leaning, storm damaged, or in the way of a project, we handle trees of all sizes, including ones close to homes, fences, and utilities. Every removal starts with an arborist's evaluation, so you know removal is the right call, and if a tree can be saved, we'll tell you.

When removal is the right call, we plan the job around access, equipment placement, rigging, and anything nearby, including buildings, fences, driveways, utilities, and landscaping. Depending on the site, that means felling the tree whole or dismantling it in controlled sections and lowering the pieces. We protect the surrounding property, handle the debris as spelled out in your estimate, and leave the area ready for its next use.

We keep the scope clear before work is scheduled, including what's covered and how debris is handled. Stump grinding is a separate service, so let us know if you're planning turf, landscaping, or replanting. Call or text for a free estimate on your removal, or book an arborist consultation if you're not sure whether removal is necessary.

  • Expert Tree Trimming and Pruning

Tree trimming and pruning is a big part of keeping a tree healthy. Every cut affects how a tree grows and responds for years, so we define the goal before we make any cuts. Eric Putnam BCMA Inc. prunes for specific reasons: removing dead, broken, or weakly attached branches, building strong structure in young trees, lifting branches off roofs and driveways, reducing the weight of overextended limbs, and recovering a canopy after a storm.

Our recommendations come from an arborist's evaluation of the species, branch structure, tree condition, and the property around it. Depending on the tree, the work may include crown cleaning, structural pruning, clearance pruning, selective reduction, storm recovery pruning, or young tree training. We follow recognized arboricultural practices, and we don't top trees. Topping creates large wounds and weak regrowth, so when a tree needs to be smaller, we use selective reduction instead.

We're not a volume trimming operation, and we won't trim a tree just because it's on a schedule. We explain what we recommend, what the work is meant to accomplish, and how we'll protect your property while we do it. Call or text for a free estimate on specific pruning work, or book an arborist consultation if you'd like help deciding what your tree needs.

  • Post Storm Tree Care Services

Storm damage isn't always obvious, and how a tree is handled afterward affects whether it recovers. Broken limbs, split trunks, hanging branches, and shifted roots can all change how a tree should be cleaned up, pruned, or removed. Eric Putnam BCMA Inc. starts every post storm job with an arborist's evaluation, so you know whether the tree can be saved, what it needs, and what's safe to do first. Until the area has been checked, keep people, vehicles, and pets away from visibly damaged trees and any suspended branches.

When a tree can be saved, we use proper pruning cuts to remove broken and hanging limbs and clean up damaged wood, and we explain what to expect as the tree recovers. When it can't, we plan a safe removal around the damage, nearby structures, and the surrounding property. Storm work done in a rush can injure a tree that would have recovered, so we focus on the right cuts, not just fast cleanup.

After the storm, we can also check the rest of your trees for hidden damage and for weak spots that could cause problems in the next one. That can include tree health care to help stressed trees recover. Call or text for a free estimate on storm damage, or book an arborist consultation if you're not sure whether a tree can be saved.

  • Tree Health / Arborist Consultations

Not sure what's affecting your tree, or whether it needs any work at all? A paid arborist consultation with Eric Putnam BCMA Inc. is an on-site appointment where an arborist looks at the tree and the site, explains what's going on, and gives you practical next steps. It's a good fit when the canopy is thinning, leaves are yellowing or dropping, you see wounds, decay, insects, or fungus, construction has happened near the tree, or another company has recommended expensive work and you want a second opinion. We look at the species, canopy, trunk, root flare, soil, drainage, and site history, because similar symptoms can have very different causes.

The consultation covers the arborist's time, field observations, and verbal recommendations, even when the answer is to monitor the tree or do nothing. It doesn't include a written report. If you need findings and photos documented for an HOA, insurer, attorney, or city, ask about an Arborist Report. When a tree does need help, our tree health care treatments are matched to what we found, so you only pay for what the tree actually needs.

Houston area trees deal with heavy clay, compacted soil, drainage problems, hurricanes, drought, and heat, and Eric Putnam is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist who has spent decades diagnosing these problems. If you already know which service or treatment you want, request a free estimate. If you need a diagnosis or a second opinion first, book a paid consultation.

Led by Board Certified Master Arborist, Eric Putnam

Eric Putnam BCMA Inc. is led by Eric Putnam, an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, one of the highest credentials in the tree care industry. Eric is a second-generation arborist, and his family has been caring for trees since 1970. He became an ISA Certified Arborist in 1993, the 98th in Texas, and earned his Master Arborist certification in 2015, the 18th in the state. He stays current on the latest science and techniques in tree care.

That experience shapes every recommendation we make. We diagnose first, follow recognized industry standards, and recommend only the work a tree needs. If a tree can be saved, we explain how, and if it can't, we remove it safely and protect your property.

Eric also believes in teaching, not just selling. He wants Houston area property owners to understand what's happening with their trees and why, so they can make confident decisions. That's the standard he sets for our whole team.
